Rhodes (Greece) - History and Sea meet
![]() |
Rhodes |
At the beginning of June, we decided to go to the sea resort in the near future with a thought that appeared for a moment while there was no vacation plan for this summer. With the thought that it could be both close and affordable, we started to explore the Greek islands first. After searching for Mykonos, Santorini, Kos, Rhodes, and Lesbos, we decided to stop at Rhodes due to various criteria and reasons. In fact, you can try very simple reasons;
Mykonos is the most expensive in the islands and there is no visa application at the door. But besides this, we can call it the island that has the best entertainment and nightlife.
Santorini is the island of honeymoon with the so-called people. There is not much on the beach. It is generally convenient and suitable for couples. There is also no visa application at the door.
Kos is a small island. Prices are reasonable and there is a visa at the door.
Pony is a quiet and quiet island. It looks ideal for listening. Visa application at the door.
Rhodes, the fact that there is visa application at the door, the fact that it is a direct transfer with Marmaris fast ferry, it has both history and entertainment, and the prices are more suitable in every area.
These were the results of the research I had done before going on vacation.
After we decided to go, we started to research how our transportation, the place, and the day-to-day program we will do on the island. The best alternative to transportation is by fast ferry. From Marmaris to Rhodes round trip 60 euros, visa fee is 60 euros. For the trip, I chose Marmaris Ferry. First, I got my tickets on the internet. Then I sent the visa documents they requested to the same company (passport photocopy, 2 photographs, ship ticket output, bank account photocopy, and visa application form). Even if you call the visa at the door, you have to send the documents in advance and you have to apply.
In the meantime, this incident has been very interesting to me. You can go to Rhodes and Kos with a visa at the door, you need to take a ferry from Bodrum to go through the visa application at the Kosi gate, you have to go to the road with a ferry from Marmaris to Rhodes to get a visa at the door. If you want to pass from Marmaris to Kos or from Bodrum to Rhodes you can not get a visa at the door. You have to be your Shangan viz. I think it must be a situation connected with this economy.
To tell us where we were going to stay. As a result of detailed research by my girlfriend who is in charge of this work and who is an expert in this matter, we have found the hotels in the old town but it is a bit more expensive than we thought. When we booked the next day, we missed the hotel we wanted because one of the rooms was booked by someone else (we needed 2 rooms for 5 people to go). While we were looking at full mourning, we decided to look at airbnb.com with my girlfriend's mind. Airbnb.com is a website where people rent houses or rooms over the internet. By reading people's comments and information, you can find accommodation in beautiful and suitable conditions. We recommend you take a look at this site in the regions you will be going on for a vacation.
This is our turning point. We felt sorry that we missed the exact hotel, so we came to a three-story sympathetic and beautiful house in the heart of Rhodes. The old style is a complete Greek house, and besides, it is much more affordable than the price of the hotel. We made a reservation and started to wait for the news. The next day our reservation was confirmed by the landlord, so we were ready to go.

About a month ago we had all our preparations completed and ready. The more you make your vacation or sightseeing arrangements, the more comfortable and convenient you can get. In the meantime, I forgot to write the night of accommodation costs 31 euros per person.
We went to the lima from 09.30 o'clock due to the ferry being at 10.30. The harbor is only about 5 minutes away from the city and 500 meters further from the bus station. We had to leave the car in the parking lot because we went by car. This buddha cost us 10 TL. Since we would not get any services other than accommodation in Rhodes, we decided to go shopping in Marmaris center for breakfast and planning to spend lunch between bread. We will rob it there in Euro and we think that we will know what we buy here as TL. We had thought that there might be a problem at the entrance, but there was no such trouble. My recommendation is that if you are going to stay at home like us and if you plan to bring some cheap meals there, do your shopping from Marmaris, put your bag and go. I had doubts that we could have problems with food during entry to Rhodes, but we could easily take it with us without a problem. In the meantime, it is obligatory to get an exit stamp from abroad. Getting your physical ticket and passport process takes about 1 hour, it will be better to be in the port by adding this time.

Rhodes Ferry |
We took our tickets and passed through customs, waiting for the ladies at the free shop, then boarded our ship and left for 15 minutes with a delay. About 1 hour and 15 minutes later we were able to get to Rhodes. When we arrived at the passport control, we were divided into two at the door, one with visas and one with Shangan visions. Our vision was ready there for giving our documents before. The officer put our visa on our passport and we were able to check in and make entry to Rhodes. But when, as usual in Turkey or in the world at any passport control point is a little dark, like me, you are sure to receive questions. The passport officer, who does not ask any questions to anybody, asked me questions like asking questions.

Rhodes City |
The port is in the city center. We had a short walk to our house because we had e-mailed the house before our host came and explained the way. I can not tell you that we already have a chance because there is not much car entry into the castle. I can say that our home is as beautiful as we think it is in photographs. I would have liked to have a house or hotel that I would like to stay in if I go to any part of Greece. Instead of telling the house in detail, I go by adding pictures. But I must tell you 3 rooms, 5 beds, 3 baths all the home utensils, washing machine, and home-made cookies are more than what you get. Let's say that our host Paula helped us in many ways. Especially about the car. After we checked the ship, we asked 3 different rental companies for their daily car prices and 70 Euro was our best price but with Paula's help, we were able to rent a car for 40 Euros. In the meantime, I would like to mention that the vehicle prices are usually around 60 Euro, besides, if you want to rent a motor at first you say 15 euros in front of you-you think you are nice engines, then they give the old engines from behind. The engines will start to diagonally from 20 euros per day.
When we got home and rented our car, it was around 15:00. Without killing the day, we decided to go to one of the beaches near the center. We boarded our car and we reached Kritika, the first beach area after the nose on the north coast of the island. The north side of the island receives more wind than the south side and the sea becomes wavier. We decided to have a snack before we got into the sea. We started our adventure of eating Rhodes first by sitting at one of the restaurants on the beach. The menu has a rich variety of fish, meat and snacks. The taste and price of the dishes are really good. I would also like to mention the Danish Restaurant.
It was always said to be expensive with what I read and heard before I came to Rhodes, but I can clearly say that it is not related at all. According to many European cities, prices are really affordable. Food, beverage, market and souvenir prices are lower than in general European standards. Although the euro is at a high level against the Turkish Lira, it is true that the prices are appropriate in Rhodes.
After we had eaten our food, it was now time for us to jump into the sea, which we passed on all day long standing in front of our eyes. Because of our being in the northern part of the island, the sea is wavy and the coast is made up of small pebble stones. Like the other beaches of Rhodes, there is no entry fee here. They only get 3-4 euros for the sunbeds. We do not need to pay 50-80 TL at the entrance to the beach like in Bodrum, Marmaris, Antalya and scared inside.
After the time we spent on the beach, we were exhausted. The day before we had a car trip, all day sea cruise, home settling, and seasick tiredness, every room that saw a remote bed leaked.
The next day, while I was sleeping at home, I got up early and made a mishap. In general, life in these cities starts between 8.30 and 9.00. As the museums open at these times, tourists come out and the places to visit are crowded. I walked to the streets of the city, comfortable and comfortable, to take pictures and feel the texture. It was 07.00 everywhere where it was closed. I can say that I completed a large part of the result of a 1.30-hour cruise as Rhodes' inland area is not too big. I already went to the castle, the library, and the cameras with my girlfriend just looking from the outside. But those alleys, the entrance doors of the castle, the courtyards, the altars, and many other places, take you into the history and witness to the life of a different country. For this reason, if you want to be alone with the city, the best time is when the sun can be accompanied by you when no one is on the street.

On the other hand, I was looking for a market with eye-catching. We have received materials to be introduced into Turkey came from, but we need bread. I found the market in the castle in one of the neighboring alleys. Yogurt You can find it on the right side when you enter from the frozen street or 20 meters far from the Recep Pasha Mosque. Bazaar market is opening at 08.30. The Markette can find everything you want and is affordable.

We decided today's day as Lindos. We were in Lindos at the end of a 30-40 minute car journey. On the way to Lindos, we went looking at a few different beaches and went thinning. To give you a little more information about these places.

Tsampika |
Tasos: It's a small, rocky area but close to the center.
Faliraki: It is crowded in the shadows of the hotels.
Ladiko: Not bad. There is a small sandy area in a rocky area.
Tsampika: I think it is the widest and most beautiful sandy beach on the island. Actually, put a human ratio and you'll find plenty in Turkey as well as higher.
Apart from these, you can find many beaches and coastal areas on the way, but we went and looked at the village above especially in the direction of our previous researches. We have finally arrived at St Pauls Bay in Lindos. This is a small but beautiful bay. There is also a small church in the sheep, and on the day we went there, there will be a wedding organization. There are two different beach sections in the bay. I suggest you the part of the church. More comfortable seating area. Here you just have to pay for the sunbed. The sea is really good. The entrance is sandy and in the way I like it. After you walk about 10 meters, your feet are cut from the ground. It may be hard to find a place just because it is a little small, but you can be sure it is worth it. There is a buffet on the beach where you can eat and drink as you like.

After having spent the day on the beach, it's time to have some fun eating. Our first target is Santan Cafe. But unfortunately, we lost that chance just because it was open on Saturday. If you want a steaky taverna party, plan your plan here and split your Saturday night here. They also offered a place called Blue Lagoon but because it was open until 00.30, we moved it to go the next day. If you want a nightclub, you should go to Aras. It is also open on Saturdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We had a little trouble because we did not know them. We wandered in the street looking for a place, but when we saw Alexis Taverna, which we heard in the name, we were immersed in it but unfortunately, it was not possible for us to sit because there was no room. They told us it was a branch of the same place a little behind, and they directed us to another tavern. They did not steer. We went to see if there was a roof of the place, but we stayed in the garden because there was only a drink service on the roof. After so much praise, we secured our food and started ordering and waiting. Our orders gradually started to come, but each plate continued growing with disappointment. Even so focused, I forgot to shoot a photo. She does not have a good taste as a taste, but she is a small writer in the portions, but she will even be great. At the end of the night, I was hungry and gave 135 Euro. But first I looked at the ouzo tastes there. I just say I'm in the eye of the raccoon.

We saw a group dancing in the street with Latin music while walking with our nut hung with Nutella, white chocolate, and fruit placed in hot pancakes. In the narrow streets, people drink and dancing in front of a bar with dancers. It's a lot of fun and beautiful. The name of the bar is Mango's Latin Bar. You will already see a huge Che photo in it. If you like Latin music and dance, this is the right place.
We got up early in the morning and went to the beach next to the harbor at the entrance of the city along with Yiğit from my holiday friends. We agreed a day ago, but I was not sure we could get up so early, so we were able. Despite the fact that the water is a bit cold, in the city, in a region where the harbor is located, the sea is a beach and it is really beautiful that it is so clean. If you want to get into the sea without getting away from the city center, you can easily choose the port.
As we started early in the day, we woke up the house and dropped in on the road again to discover new beaches. First, we decided to go to Anthony Quinn Bay in Ladiko. This bay is a middle-sized rocky area. Seating areas can be zero at sea because space is limited. But besides this, the sea is really super. You have to watch the big rocks in the sea while swimming. But as I said, the water is very good. You can also dive if you want to be in this area. They prepare you in advance by training and you can go out to dive. We left too long because it was not here and because the other half of our mind was also in Kalithea. But I can say that getting in and out is even better.

I'm not sure, but there's never been a place like this in a place where money was paid in the entrance, instead we were paying for the sunbed. The situation in Kalithea is slightly different. You get 2 Euro at the entrance, you can get free of charge from the inner sun beds. There is a beautiful and highly diversified café. From there you can easily eat. The beach and the service were really comfortable. Due to its large space, the sea is comfortable, the pier is available and you can skip it, but let's say the sea is better than Anthony Quinn. After spending a bit of time here, it was time to see monuments in the old part of the city.

There is a Rhodesian reindeer here, which is considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world, but it is the statue of Rhodes lost in the midst of an earthquake. It is even said that the Statue of Liberty in America is inspired by the Statue of Rhodes and the similarity is at a serious level. We have also completed the castle surroundings and inside by visiting the moon deer and windmills which are the symbols of the city.

Greek Coffee |
To give information about the Turks and the glasses on the island. I learned that there are about 3500 Turks. There is even a shop of Rhodes Turks, who have been there 50 meters up from the coffee house on the right-hand side and from the time of the Ottoman Empire on the left-hand side, without even coming to the library when entering the castle. We made a drink and the like from there. I would suggest it to you. We also found the most variety there. We got detailed information about the drinks as well as the prices according to the others. Negotiable. As a note, I am writing. If you want Greek coffee, there is a shop that draws fresh coffee 50 meters below the coffee-water pipe on the same road. You can get it from there. There are three mosques in Rhodes, but only one is active. The Greeks do not open with the amendment (no work, no movement, abandoned). There is also an Ottoman library. You can go to a little place and visit the place. But there is not much there, unfortunately. It is possible to see Ottoman writings in various places in the city. It is a great subtlety that they can not close their tops with certain grades after the renovations done in time.

You do not want to have. We have decided to go to Blue Lagoune which is recommended by a few people with the sadness of finding a nice and fun taverna in the style we wanted since we arrived. You can walk out of the castle for a while. If you do not want to walk, you can also take a taxi for 5 euros. The concept of the space is a pirate ship, full-color lighting. On the entrance floor, there is a small round table for those who want a drink or a snack, while the upper mezzanine is a place to eat. Live music is played between 20.30 - 00.30. When we get inside we have to say we're disappointed. We were expecting a more Greek concept and a blue-white theme but it was darker and we were faced with the music and colors in the 90's wedding rooms. The quality of live music made in association with the ready-made music played by the organization is really low. We started to mix the menu with the hopes that the food would be good with my previous experience. The first minus points have already been taken with the absence of calamari. A dish of mixed dishes was prepared to be served by 3 people, including 2-3 varieties of fish, mussels, and shrimp. With the two Greek salads and halloumi beside us, we finished our day with the latest little ouzo. The flavors and portions of the meals were adequate but the concept of the room, the music, the environment and the number of inadequate waiters were negative aspects of the venue. If I'm going to go again or do not recommend it to anyone. Instead, I think the concept and music of the Tavern of Kriston on the alley are more satisfying. But none of them match my dreams. I prefer the caves in Cunda and Ayvalik.

Luckily we left the place after we were hungry yesterday after paying both enough and fewer accounts. Although the waitress was not good enough, the service of our waiter was really good. And if the Greeks were to bring water, everything would be better.
Our last day in Rhodes was at 17.00 because we had a ferry. We had already got up early in the morning and walked around to Rhodes Castle and had a tour of the garden. We packed up our carpets and settled behind our car to deliver the house at 14.00 and we spent our last hours in Rhodes sitting by the sea and drinking something and chatting.

The trip tickets we had to take our physical ticket by entering the ticket queue at the port due to a lack in our hands. I started to wait in line with the ticket receipt on my hand. We actually got our tickets after waiting for 40 minutes on the sun. We then entered the passport control line, and by the end of our last hour, we came to the end of our Rhodes adventure. Ferries do not have a number of applications.
When we arrive in Marmaris, we can pass the passport control for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Passport control takes more than an hour because there are two ferry arrivals and only three of the five checkpoints work. If you are going to get a bus or plane ticket, I suggest you pay attention. We experienced some stress in this regard.
I need to summarize briefly. You can go to Rhodes easily. Beautiful and tourist island with a hearty parallel to the normal cost of your holiday expenses can be done in Turkey. It is a place where you can have a good time with both history and sea tourism together.
