PON - Passive Optical Network (New Generation Fiber Internet Solution)
We will try to give information about the PON systems which
are not widespread in our country but have a great place in the fiber internet
future.
First of all I want to share some terms with you from the
beginning;
OLT: Optical Line Terminal
ONU / ONT:Optical Network Unit / Optical Network Terminal
EPON:Ethernet Passive Optical Network
GPON:Gigabit Passive Optical Network
POS:Passive Optical Splitter
ADSL: Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
VDSL:Very High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line
I will try to explain these terms before I go into much
detail.

In short, it allows you to use the telephone, internet and television over a single line with maximum efficiency. Of course, to use this system you first need an internet infrastructure with fiber internet infrastructure.
First you need one OLT. By connecting your incoming phone
lines and your Internet line and other network services to the OLT, you create
a hub. You can control the OLT remotely if you want, and you can do all the
routing and management options you need here. You can do things like managing
your Mac address, tracking computers and lines, web management, or limiting
through the OLT.
In the later stage, you know how many different houses,
workplaces or areas are using POS to multiply. Depending on the request, if you
want to process the different zones, you can put the POSs in certain zones and
you can distribute each zone there.
You need to put ONU in every house, work place or area that
will be used after delivery with POS. ONUs are mainly distribution terminals.
You can distribute it to your house via this terminal, but ONUs only operate as
a wired system at this stage. ONUs are divided into two groups as EPON and
GPON. You can choose according to the demand and the system you have. If you
want to use it wirelessly, you need a router for it. I have to say that
wireless deployment will be a bit of a performance loss, but after the internet
performance we are using now, wireless system performance will satisfy you.

Once you have connected to the ONU system, the distribution
in that area is up to you. By connecting from ONU, you can distribute them to
TV, computer, telephone, or whatever you want to connect. If you want to
distribute it wirelessly, you can also spread it wirelessly by making a router
connection.
You can also use the line from your internet provider using
ONT / ONU and use it at home without using OLT from the other side. In general,
the use of OLT is needed in large and large areas or situations requiring
management. For simpler uses, you can use ONU / ONT.

GPON & EPON Differences |
Cable distance is about 3km in ADSL and VDSL, 20km in PON,
ADSL simple internet control, VDSL is used for more games
and conference communication, PON is used for VoD, Live TV and HD TV
performance,
Bandwidth ADSL 10M, VDSL 25M, PON 100M in the form of a
single solution, a lot of solutions,
I do not go into the details of the differences in detail
for the simple use I tried to explain as soon as possible. I hope I can benefit
those who are looking for information.
